The Hive

The Hive- a Mid Richmond community garden and food Crop Collectors have been initiated by the Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre.

Both these projects will provide local advice, education and promote food gardening and sustainable living in our community of the Mid Richmond.

These projects will aim to;

·         Encourage group support, social opportunities and friendship;

·         Provide advice for individuals interested in environmentally friendly gardening;

·         Encourage growing your own food and improving nutrition and well being;

·         Help households create and maintain food gardens and assist in harvesting of surplus produce;

·         Provide training and workshops on organic gardening, growing food, sustainability, cooking and healthy lifestyles;

·         Foster the sharing and development of a diversity of gardening skills;

·         Have a gardening good time!!

We imagine The Hive is going to be a great place to gather, relax and share whilst taking positive action towards creating a better world. Planting a beautiful, healthy and productive garden filled with food is one of the most creative and peaceful ways to sustain individual, community and planetary health.

Location of community garden - Grounds of the Evans Head Scout Hall, 22 Mangrove Street, Evans Head

The Hive community garden will be designed, implemented, managed and maintained by the Mid Richmond community. This project will create opportunity for learning and exchange. Skills and information will be shared and the space will enable people to grow some of their own food at a relatively low cost. Community activities and workshops will be held for all community members.

This project will provide a meeting place, bringing together diverse aspects of our local communities whilst contributing to food security in the Mid Richmond.

Fresh food for all!!!
